Block function within a tracking cuelist

I’d love to see a Block option that will prevent values from tracking into cues within a cuelist.

Hi @frankschabell

Welcome to the forum.

If you have a cue that you would like to block, go into that cue, so it is live on stage, ensure no other cue lists or submasters are running, and ensure the programmer is cleared (CLEAR CLEAR).

Then use the command . 0 ENTER to select all. Then tap LOAD LOAD, to load all fixtures into the programmer in their current values. Then tap UPDATE UPDATE, to update the current cue. Every parameter will then be stored in the cue, meaning previous cues can no longer track into this cue.

I hope this helps. Let us know if you have any questions.

Thank you so much! This is simple enough; I will try it next time I’m at my desk.

Of course, a simple button with the Cuelist or Marco command would be wonderful, but this will certainly help with my programming process

Cheers!

The ONYX platform is a “tracking console” by default. As you have found, values recorded into cue 1 but not cue 2 will track into cue 2. The console is only recording the changed (or adjusted) values into cue 2. This is by design to allow a more “robust” programming, so you don’t have to adjust every value every time.

As @Edward has mentioned, this is the way to take any values you see in a cuelist that are being “tracked” and make them active in that cue. Thus, giving the “Block” effect and making sure that cue will look that way all every time.

That approach maybe what you are needing, but you also asked about a more global option. In the Cuelist Options dialog box within the Cue settings, there is the option to Disable Tracking for that specific Cuelist. With that, I would encourage you to read this part of the manual. It will better explain the tracking process and how it affects the cues behavior.

Hope this provides a few additional details and maybe this is more what you are asking. Just make sure you have a few moments to experiment with the different behaviors before a show.
