Bug (I think): 4.30.1274

Not totally sure if this is a bug, or something that is intentional, or if there is a preference now for it that I’m not finding, but it’s a bug to me, so…

In previous versions of Onyx, when you had presets they would show black background by default, then when you selected a light, if the presets applied to that light they would stay black background, and presets that had no info for that light would turn gray. 4.30.xxxx+ doesn’t do this. This was very useful visual functionality. Please restore this. If this is a preference that can be set somewhere, please forgive me. Where is it set?

Hi @Onlyslightlybent

I have checked this in ONYX 4.30.1274, and this appears to be working as expected. If I select some fixtures, presets that do not contain data for any of the selected fixtures will be greyed out. Presets that contain data for any of the currently selected fixtures will remain black as normal.

Please could you send me a copy of your show file, and confirm the fixtures you are selecting, and which palettes are incorrectly showing as available?

I’m no longer able to test this on the main PC it occurred, since I rolled that back to 4.10.1271. My laptop still has 4.31.1292 however, so I’m able to open the show on it, and things work normally. On the main PC, when it was still 4.30.1274, with this showfile, all the presets were greyed out, always. But they did function, as in loading the relevant parameters.

I’m glad this appears to be a specific problem with that PC/instance. Is it possible it’s related to the Windows version? Both are 8th Gen Intel, above minimum system spec, and are Win 11, although the main PC has a Radeon GPU and is Win v.22H2, while the laptop has an Nvidia GPU and is Win v.23H2.

Also, I have another thread on this forum that Gert Leunen is looking at, regarding a Custom WW CW fixture that broke things down. Since that issue was in play when my main PC was exhibiting this behavior, I wonder if it could be related.

I’m not going to be able to test this further right away, as I’m prepping a show and I need to roll the laptop back to 4.10.1271 so I can do showfile interchange with the main PC. This show will last about two weeks, and after that I will try again to update everything to 4.30.xxxx+

Thank you for your attention to this.

Thank you very much for providing your show file. I have taken a look at this, and fixture 902 seems to be causing various parts of ONYX to behave incorrectly in ONYX 4.30.1274. I have logged this issue on our system (reference ONYX-1157), to allow our software team to investigate further.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
