Can't connect to EP1 from laptop with IP address

Trying to set this up for use with an ETC system. Firstly, the little user guide says I can connect by connecting it to a laptop and entering the IP address. I do this (first making sure the laptop is in the same ip range) and I can’t connect on the browser or ping the unit. Secondly, when I manually enter an address in the correct range, put the correct subnet in, set it to SACN and the proper universe, and I can’t reach it from the console. There is literally NO documentation or instructions I can find to shed any light. Is it all a lie? Do I HAVE to use the CLU app to set it up?

Hi @Jakemembers

Welcome to the forum.

No - you don’t have to use CLU, but it is very helpful when your EP1 is set to an IP address and subnet that’s out of your laptop’s range.

On the laptop, tap Start, and then type ncpa.cpl and press enter. In the Windows Control Panel window, does the Ethernet connection between PC and EP1 show as “disconnected”, or “unidentified network”?

If you haven’t yet tried CLU, please see whether this can detect your EP1.

It turns out what I really needed was to connect via windows machine. I assumed I’d be able to connect via browser with my mac which didn’t work, but with my windows machine I can connect via browser or CLU. So, I’m all configured now. Thanks!

Interesting - you should be able to use a browser on your Mac to connect to the EP1’s webpage. What browser were you using on the Mac?
