Change Group

Is there an easy way to change the order of a saved group? For the fact that you notice that 2 fixtures need to be swapped. Or do you always have to again select all the fixtures you want to have in that group and overwrite it?

Thanks
Philipp

Hi @flippatspace

One way to do this is to go to the Fixture Center window and select the “Selected” tab. Then type EDIT GROUP x ENTER, to load your group in (x being your group number). You will then see the fixtures displayed in the order they’re currently recorded in in the group. You can then use normal selection syntax to customise the order. Or, tap the “Grouping” dropdown at the top, and then use tools such as “Sort”. You can then see your fixtures change order. When you’re happy, tap UPDATE to save your changes and update the group.

Hope this helps.

Hi @Edward

what do you mean by “You can then use normal selection syntax to customise the order.” If I have 100 Fixtures in a group and only want to swap 2, but keep the others as they are.

Thanks for your support
Philipp

You’ll need to manually re-type the fixtures in the order you’d like them in. “Swap” syntax is only available in Patch. You could use groups to edit your main group if needed, to select multiple batches of fixtures in the correct order.

There are options to sort, randomize and revert the selection in the grouping tools.
There is no function to move individual fixtures around in the select fixtures order list.

Wouldnt that be a very nice new feature. I often struggle to select the fixture in the correct order when working with many fixtures. Always starting from the beginning when creating a group is a bit painful.

You’ll love the selection grid fixture in MA3!

@flippatspace - Are your fixtures placed in a 2D plan? You can use the 2D plan selection tools to also create your “group” order. Or from the 2D plan you can individually select each unit in the order you want, thus eliminating the need to type each fixture ID in order on the command line.

Hope this helps,

Hi @Watson,

yes I know that I can do it like that and thats already the way I do it. But I still really would like to have an option to change a group order to adjust any group slightly. I mean there is already the option to randomize, sort, invert… a group. so why not have an arrow up/down button to simply move one fixture in a group up/down.

Thanks
