Cloning troubles. Touring. Help.

So every time after cloning, something (some parameter) don’t clone properly or don’t clone at all.

I am doing a lot of touring and cloning is the most important thing. It drives me crazy every time and in the last couple of years I haven’t had a single gig where cloning proces ran smoothly.

The most common parameters that ignore cloning are Prism and Color wheel. Sometimes Strobe/shutter parameter joins the party.

In my template showfile I am keeping my Prism/Color wheel/Shutter/strobe parameters at Open/Zero in my presets. So after cloning I just edit all the presets for the new fixtures with the right values and that’s it, everything is fine when everything is cloned. As a longtime Onyx/M-pc user, all I want from the software is to clone all the parameters and that’s it. I can handle everything else from there.

Currenty I am in situation where I have to avoid pre-programmed cuelists shows and timecode shows because of fear of Onyx not cloning everything. The thought of needing to merge all the missing parameters into a presets and in all the cues in the show terrifies me. It requires a significant amount of time which you mostly don’t have in the venue.

I’m desperately in anticipation of someone who knows what and why is it happening and how to solve it for good. Or at least someone who can give some advices on how to handle it and if there is some tips and tricks that helps.

Software Version: 4.10.1271
NX Console Type or PC OS Version: Windows 10 Home 22H2 and Windows 11 Home 23H2

Are you selecting whole fixture and using LOAD instead of edit? There’s a option to select whole fixture under the Load pop-up. Also under the Load pop-up is a thing that says filter. You need to select all the attributes you want to copy to from your source to your target.

Hi @Dinas

I have replied to your email about the same topic.

Cloning in ONYX will be greatly improved in ONYX version 4.34, thanks to a change to the cloning/swapping logic (feature reference ONYX-769).

Please let us know if you have any questions.

I am talking about general cloning in Patch.

That sounds wonderful! I’m looking forward to try it out
