CLU not finding any device

Hello,
we have a new EN12 which works fine with our gMA2-console by sACN.
I can also reach the device by browser. But the CLU Software does not find any device. Even if i try to start the CLU with administrator-permission, there are no devices.

Where is my problem ?

@mikeemike -

In my experience the CLU and NETRON need to have the same subnet. I also have had an issue with a specific network switch. So I’d suggest trying those to things first.

Hope this helps,

Watson

Thanks, after update to Firmware 3.x it works…. But the software is very bugy

@mikeemike-

Glad to hear you got the update and things are working. I do like the CLU, but understand that it is also still in development, just as the nodes themselves are. I’m excited for where the product line is going, even if there are some bugs on the way.

Hi @mikeemike

CLU will typically only be unable to discover a Netron device under the following circumstances:

  • The Netron device has the same IP address as another device on the network
  • Aggressive antivirus software on the CLU PC interrupting network traffic
  • Layer 3 switch on the network blocking LLRP discovery traffic

Please could you confirm which firmware version you were running previously? Please could you also confirm what aspects you are finding “buggy”?

This shouldn’t be the case. CLU uses the LLRP protocol for device discovery, which does not take into account subnet masks.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

I changed nothing with the network setup. After firmwareupdate to 3.X version, it discovers the EN12.
It would be great if there is some red alert message which states that the userdefined presets of 2.X are NOT compatible with 2.X. Only in the changelog it is a little bit confusing …

Buggy:

  • If i save a userdefined preset with the name “sACN U1+U2|DMX U3” after I saved it, it does not display any userdefined presets anymore in the CLU. I even can’t change the name back.
  • If I’m in the configuration-panel with the PIN dialog, sometimes it automaticly activates the PIN field. Even if it is not activated some times shows the error “I need a PIN” in the input-field.
  • With my touchdisplay it sometimes shows me the content above the screen overlayed over the normal GUI
  • Nowhere in the manual there seems to be an explanation over the “resend per sACN” and the “resend univers-number” …

and so on :wink:

Hi @mikeemike

Please could you confirm which firmware version you were previously running on the EN12?

User Preset names can have a maximum of 12 characters. Neither the webpage, OLED, nor CLU should allow you to enter a name longer than 12 characters.

Please make sure that both the “Firmware” and “Web” version of your EN12 are v3.0.1. This can be confirmed from the System > Status webpage.

I’m not sure where you are seeing this. Is this in CLU > EN12 > System > Device Settings, or in the webpage > System > Security?

If this occurs again, please could you send us a screenshot of this?

The “Resend Ethernet” option in Cues > Run Cues, allows for cue data to be output over sACN or Art-Net when a cue is triggered. This is mentioned on page 15 of the EN12 manual. The cue data will be sent on the protocol and universes currently configured per port. The output universes cannot be set separately from the currently configured port universes.

If you have encountered other issues, please do let us know. Netron firmware v3.0 has been tested thoroughly. However, if issues have slipped through, we need to be made aware of them, in order to get them fixed.
