Hello everyone, i have a question im thinking purchase this setup
01 En12
02 RDM 10
01 NS8
question? its necesary NS8 as switch to use between EN12 and RDM10 (working as node Artnet/Sacn to dmx) to make the network, netron documentation says u can daisy chaining max 10 devices.
if i use NS8 i don t see on documentation RDM capability. its necesary use to keep my net with RDM use the RDM 645?
Really glad to hear you are interested in these Netron devices.
It is possible to connect your console to Ethernet port A of an EN12, and then loop out of Ethernet port B, to Ethernet port A of an RDM10. You could then connect Ethernet port B of the RDM10 to a second RDM10. This number of “loops” would be absolutely fine.
However, if you would like to future-proof your set-up, adding an NS8 network switch would be a good idea. The NS8 can then sit at the centre of the network, with all devices connected to it, avoiding “daisy-chaining”.
The NS8 is a network switch, and so does not communicate via RDM, which is RS-485 based. It will however support LLRP for remote configuration, and will pass Art-RDM network traffic.
I hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any questions.
First of all, thank you for your quick response and the information provided. Yes, although I haven’t used Obsidian for a few years, I still work with Netron, which is why I’m considering this new configuration.
After receiving your information and reconsidering the idea, instead of focusing on a single rack based on an EN12 and two RDM10s, I’ll create two systems. One will have an NS8 and an RDM10, and the other will have two RDM10s. I’ll use the one with the NS8 as the main unit, and from there I’ll route my network using the one with the two RDM10s and others I currently have configured with EN4s.
