I have an EP4 for a project. For some reason, it’s not unlocking onyx. CLU sees the node without any problem. I updated the firmware on the node, but still no luck.
Same IP scheme. SACN & Artnet enabled on the network interface.
I’m sure it’s a simple fix. Any help would be appreciated.
Please enable either sACN or Art-Net, depending which protocol you wish to use.
In your screenshot, EP4 is configured to receive sACN, so you can disable Art-Net output from ONYX.
Even with Art-Net disabled, ONYX will still perform Art-Net discovery, when sACN is enabled. ONYX won’t however output Art-Net DMX.
In Menu > EtherDMX > Devices, you should then see the EP4 detected. If it is not shown, this means ONYX cannot see it, and so is not unlocking 4 universes.
Do you have another piece of software running on the PC, that may be acting as an Art-Net controller? If so, this may prevent ONYX from seeing any devices.
Please try restarting your PC, and then run ONYX.
Please also make sure your PC’s Ethernet adapter also has a subnet mask of 255.0.0.0.

Brand new PC with only ONYX and Companion installed.

SACN is outputting. Nothing pops up in the device window.

IP settings are correct. It’s on an isolated network with only the NODE and PC on the system. CLU sees the node without problem on the same exact PC running ONYX.
Just for clarity, is the “isolated network with only the NODE and PC on the system” going through a switch? If so, what is the brand / model of the switch. I have had an issue with a TP-Link TL-SG105. Once I changed that out, no problems. If not using a switch, maybe try a switch. I see the PC is using DHCP, is the node also using DHCP? The system / software allows DHCP, but for troubleshooting, maybe try a static IP just to make sure?
Can you elaborate on Edwards statement? Does this mean the Art-Net Protcol communication option under Network / Settings / Interfaces (for the desired NIC Interface) should be enabled, but the Network / EtherDMX / Settings / Ethernet (Art-Net) In/Out options should be “disabled” (Greyed out)? Thus, allowing the Art-Net communication but not actually sending any Art-Net traffic onto the NIC?
Companion does have the ability to output Art-Net. I therefore wonder whether it is “hogging” that port in Windows, preventing ONYX from performing Art-Net discovery. If you force quit Companion, and then relaunch ONYX, is ONYX then able to see the EP4 in Menu > EtherDMX > Devices, when sACN or Art-Net is enabled on the correct network interface?
Thank you for the confirmation. With this configuration, ONYX will be looking for Art-Net devices on the network, such as the EP4.
Please make sure that the subnet mask of your PC is also 255.0.0.0. CLU uses a discovery protocol called “LLRP”, which is able to see through invalid IP addresses and subnets. Art-Net discovery requires devices to be on the same IP scheme, with a matching subnet mask.
This is also a great suggestion - please try setting your PC to a static IP address and subnet mask for now.
To clarify, you do not need Art-Net enabled at all, to perform Art-Net discovery (polling). So long as either sACN or Art-Net is enabled on an interface, ONYX will perform Art-Net discovery on this interface. Art-Net DMX will only be sent if Art-Net is enabled, with “Rules” set to Output.
