I have a list of things I would like to see implemented in Onyx.
- Timecode needs a better way to record instead of cue lists. My older generic console had the ability to record live all of my inputs and timestamp them to timecode to create a show. For example if I made a blue wash and faded it up it would record my movement on that Fader and at the exact speed I moved the Fader up or down. It would also execute or record anything else I adjusted while recording a show to music. It used a internal music player and internal timecode to do this and made programming quick and painless.
- Audio Player. I feel like Onyx needs to have it’s own audio player. We have all this storage capability on NX1 to store things but for what I’m not sure. Maybe DYLOS content but even that doesn’t take up much space. We could have audio on here as well. The audio player could sync up to internal timecode and you could create a show on the console instead of relying on third party software and hardware to do this.
- We need a easier way to control framing lights. They are slowly becoming a standard and it becomes difficult and messy to adjust 6+ different channels to adjust the frames on a framing fixture. We need a GUI or graphic showing a blank open circle representing the lights beam and then be able to just drag the sides to create or frame edges or something similar to that. I think I’ve seen it implemented on Avolites.
- Labels: We need a better way to label things, text us fine but images should also be allowed. If I want to label a light fixture, I should be able to label it with a thumbnail of the fixtures actual picture. This makes selecting fixtures quicker when you can visually see what it looks like. We have the ability to label Gobos and even Prism and frost filters but not a picture for the actual light?
- Android app: I can’t figure out why a OS built on Windows has a app to control it via Apple but not Android. It seems weird to me. We need a app for android users to be able to control the console wirelessly. I knows it’s been mentioned but it’s past due. I know you can use OSC but Obsidian needs a dedicated app in the Google play store for controlling Onyx.
