I have one EP4, I’m running MA3 ONPC + command wing, with a MacStudio. It works but every few hours the Mac loses connection with the EP4. Re-setting the EP4 brings it back, but after a few hours it drops again. I have firmware V2.9.4, the MA3 is 2.1.1.2, the Mac is running Monterey 12.3.1.
What protocol are you sending?
I’ve tested it with ArtNet and sACN. I’ve had a test sequence running continuous for a few days now. It doesn’t matter which protocol I use, both work fine. But after a few hours the computer loses connection to the EP4.
Did this work previously and then stopped? Or is this the first time using an EP4 for you?
I’ve had the whole setup for 2 years with all the same hardware including this EP4. It’s difficult to say when I noticed the problem, it only happened once during a show a few weeks ago. Now for the first time I’m running it in my office non stop for a week and watching continuously. Sometimes it’s happy for 12 plus hours and then it drop out and the EP4 needs a re-set. I don’t think it’s anything to do with MA3, it’s something between the computer and the node.
Hi,
I am glad to hear someone else is having this issue.
I have had a RDM10 doing the thing for the last year or so. I have 3 others which seem fine.
Have sent the faulty one to the local agents and they can’t fault it.
So weird.
Any thoughts?
Cheers

I had the same problem with an EP4 sent it back to the supplier and got a new one. Haven’t had a problem with the new one yet. I saw an EN12 with a crystalized screen the other day and the tech said it was dropping ethernet and changing IP address. I’m not sure what is going on with the quality control here, but if it continues, I will have to change to a different brand. Can’t have gear bombing mid-show.
I think the issue is power supply related. I have moved mine to a POE system now
I haven’t had any issues with my 8 x EN12’s. I have 1 EN4 where the LED on output one looks like its dropped a color in the indicator led.
What I have just noticed with the RDM10 that is playing up if I touch the display the unit resets. Something is not quite right.
on first boot up it appears in ONYX and the NCU then shortly after it goes offline.
Then about 3 minutes later
it completely disappears.
I shall try the POE and see if that helps.
*UPDATE - Just had chance to try using the RDM10 on POE from a NS8 and the unit seems to be stable and touching the display doesn’t seem to effect the unit anymore. Thanks for the tip and I shall drop this unit back to the local dealer.
Cheers
