NX Wing - DMX Ports questionable behaviour?

Hello,

I’ve encountered some strange behaviour on the dmx ports on my NX Wings.

I noticed recently that when I enter the “DMX Settings” in the Menu, my Ports go off (green leds) and they’re not outputting anything. But the second I exit the “DMX Settings” they switch back to amber/orange leds and are outputting/working normally. It’s the same situation on both of my NX Wings.

That wasn’t happening before and I actually did a complete Windows reset on my PC (for some other reasons), I did a fresh install of everything.

But the behaviour is still the same with both NX Wings on different PC’s (mini PC with Windows 11 Pro 23H2, and a laptop Windows 11 Home 24H2).

What is the issue and what to do?

Software Version: 4.10.1271
NX Console Type or PC OS Version: NX Wing

Hi Dinas,

This behaviour was present in ONYX 4.10.1271 software.

I would recommend updating to ONYX 4.32.1311, which is the latest version available here…

Installation instructions can be found here…

Once installed, you can then update the firmware on your NX Wing. Installation instructions can be found here…

If you’d like assistance on updating your NX Wing’s firmware, please go to ONYX > Menu > Tools > Diagnostic > Firmware Update. Please then take a screenshot of this utility, and email this to support@obsidiancontrol.com. We will then be able to assist.

Once running the latest software and firmware, you will no longer encounter this behaviour.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Hi Edward,

I was afraid that I’m gonna get this answer.

I know I can just update, it is the easiest solution for almost every bug, but I don’t want to update. I want to continue my work on 4.10.1271.
I am still using some legacy hardware which is important to me. So I was hoping for a solution/fix in my current version.

Updating is out of the question.

Hi @Dinas

If you wish to continue running ONYX 4.10.1271, there is no way of resolving the behaviour you are seeing in Menu > DMX Settings.

An updated version of firmware is required to resolve the issue, and this newer firmware is only compatible with newer versions of ONYX.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Hi Edward,

Well, that’s just unfortunate. Guess I’ll have to deal with it as it is.

Thank you for answer.
