Software Version: 4.30.
NX Console Type or PC OS Version: NX4
I updated my NX1 with the OS tool 4.32, no problem. I used the same drive on my NX4. The NX4 won’t boot from the drive, regardless of which USB port I try. I tried booting from the BIOS, but that’s locked down with a password. I know this USB works, I just used it on the NX1. Why would the 4 be any different?
It sounds like your USB drive may class as a “USB Hard Disk” rather than a standard “USB key”. The NX4 therefore may not detect the USB drive during boot. This is not an issue on NX1 consoles.
If possible, I would recommend sourcing an alternative 32GB or 64GB USB drive, and format this with the ONYX OS image.
Please then attempt to perform the operating system installation again, and hopefully the NX4 will boot into the USB drive.
If I recall we had a similar issue. We ended up using the USB port on the top left face, next to the submasters, of the NX4 instead of the back blue port. I know this is not the recommended procedure, but in our case it did work.
I also see that there was a maintenance release with notes indicating a BIOS update for the NX2/4 to help with larger drives.
Since my last forum post, we have released ONYX OS 4.32.1302. If you have not yet installed ONYX OS 4.32.1301 on your NX4, I would recommend installing ONYX OS 4.32.1302, which can be downloaded from the link below… https://files.obsidiancontrol.com/s/Onyx_OS_4_32_1302/download
As @Watson mentions, we have released a BIOS update. If you encounter any difficulties when attempting to install ONYX OS 4.32.1302, please let me know, and I can provide instructions on updating the BIOS.
Really sorry to hear this. Please could you email a video of your NX4’s screen glitching to support@obsidiancontrol.com? We will then be able to investigate further.
