We want to inform you about an important update regarding our legacy USB products (M-Series licenses and hardware). With the release of Windows 11 (24H2), Microsoft has introduced significant changes to its encrypted security structure, which directly impacts ONYX. To ensure continued compatibility and security, ONYX has updated its internal licensing and driver support to align with these new requirements.
Unfortunately, this means that legacy Martin USB products and license keys can no longer be supported.
We understand this news may be unexpected, and we want to assure you that this decision was not taken lightly. The changes in Windows security were beyond our control, and we are committed to supporting you through this transition as best as we can.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to our team if you have questions or need assistance during this process.
Sincerely,
Obsidian Control Systems

End of support for legacy Martin hardware
Updates in Windows 11 (24H2) introduced significant changes to the encrypted security structure utilized by ONYX. The changes required software and security adjustments which are integrated into ONYX 4.30.
These adaptions unfortunately cannot be applied to legacy M-Series licenses and hardware as they are locked into their encryption scheme. This scheme was rendered obsolete by changes in the Microsoft Operating System and the licenses are blocked by the latest Windows 11 version.
ONYX 4.10.1271 is the last version supporting M-Series licenses, license keys and USB devices.
The following Martin devices are no longer unlocking ONYX and are not supported as USB control devices:
-
LightJockey Key
-
Martin One Key (all versions)
-
M2PC
-
M2GO (USB Mode)
-
M2GOHD (USB Mode)
-
M-Touch
-
M-Play
-
M-DMX (M-PC 2U)
-
USB Duo DMX
-
Universal USB DMX
-
Martin USB DMX
-
Enttec USB DMX
-
M-Sync
-
M-Series Modules
-
Maxxyz Compact
-
Maxxyz
It is recommended to utilize Windows 10 or Windows 11 pre 24H2. Obsidian can unfortunately not guarantee that future updates on Windows 10 will not cause blocking of the encryption keys due to ongoing changes in Microsoft’s security requirements.
To create a reliable PC system for long term support of legacy hardware consider a dedicated PC System using the Windows 10 LTSC 2021 license which can be obtained from online retailers for a low fee.
All downloads for legacy consoles and PC installers can be found at https://support.obsidiancontrol.com/mseries
For the foreseeable future Onyx Library packages will be compatible with Onyx 4.10.1271 and Obsidian will provide library updates and support fixture requests for all Onyx 4.10 users. Compatibility Notes
