ONYX + Streamdeck Lag on same PC?

Software Version:
NX Console Type or PC OS Version: 4.30.1274

I notice my Streamdeck that is connected to my PC is lagging severely while running ONYX.

Does this have to do with running ONYX and the Streamdeck on the same PC? I had some success with OSC initially but noticed the lag when I restarted ONYX later the same day.

Thank you!

Hi @frankschabell

I am going to assume that you are using Bitfocus Companion in order to send OSC messages using the Stream Deck

It is absolutely fine to run ONYX and Companion on the same PC. What IP addresses are you using? Are you using the loopback adapter, or are you using the IP address of an active network adapter on your PC?

What ONYX licence is connected to your PC? This can be confirmed by clicking the licence button to the left of the command line.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Hi Edward,
Thank you for the reply!

Yes, I’m running Bitfocus Companion through the Streamdeck application. I’ve tested using both the Loopback Adapter and my local network from my PC.

I also have an NX Wing with the Premier 64 license connected to the same PC.

One interesting thing I noticed: I had suspected a background process might be causing the issue, but on a whim, I powered off my NX Wing—and suddenly, the Streamdeck started changing pages without any lag. Previously, page changes were noticeably delayed. This seems to suggest the NX Wing might be contributing to the performance issue.

The Streamdeck and NX Wing are connected shared powered USB hub so I am wondering if that is the culprit.

Will try running a separate USB and see that resolves the issue but open additional thoughts or ideas.

Thank you!

Hi @Edward sorry for the basic troubleshooting update…did a straight NX Wing to USB port connection and everything is working perfectly fine now…I’m guessing just too many devices on the hub. :upside_down_face:

Running my OSC signal through the Loopback Adapter and all is well.

Thank you so much!

Thank you very much for the update. Glad you were able to track down the culprit.

I’ll bear this in mind in case anyone else encounters a similar issue!

Not as “nice and neat” looking an extra cable plugged in vs the singular USB C cable from my laptop to the docking station hub but a fast and easy fix! :joy:

Thanks again!
