ONYX won't see MTC

Hi there.

I need urgent support from anyone that can help me.

We’re trying to use ONYX synced with MTC generated from another laptop using REAPER.

We are currently able to make it work when running both ONYX and REAPER from the same PC, but we would like to run REAPER on a different PC.

We tried running MIDI over network (installing RTP MIDI on both machines), but even when we can see the REAPER PC from the ONYX’s in the RTP MIDI software, we cannot see any MIDI connection on ONYX other than itself.

If we try it running LOOP MIDI, we are able to see the MTC running from REAPER to ONYX, and everything runs smoothly. This is one only PC.

As an alternative, and for testing purposes, we tried using a physical MIDI connection, using a MOTU M4 interface on the REAPER PC, and a Roland UM-ONE interface.

We made sure everything is well connected, and on the ONYX PC we can see its MIDI interface. Likewise, on the REAPER PC, we assign its own M4 interface, but again, ONYX doesn’t seem to receive MTC from the other PC.

Can anybody please help me?

We are using ONYX v. 4.8.1244.0 and Reaper v. 7.25.

Thanks in advance.

Hi @frankcifuentes

Thank you for also sending this to support@obsidiancontrol.com. We will respond to your query once we have investigated.

I am assuming you are using a licenced Onyx version. If you don’t have a licence, MIDI will timeout. Please see here - Onyx Licenses (obsidiancontrol.com)
