Are there any tips to speed up programming with multipart fixtures, typically where the intensity is in the mainpart and the colour is in the sub parts.
currently I have to make two groups, one for the main parts, and another for all the sub parts. programming is then select main part set intensity to 100%, select subparts group set colour / colour fx
I don’t believe there are any quicker ways to program this type of fixture.
It would be nice if onyx could allow multipart fixtures to merge with the master for things like colour / intensity etc
Usually I use dylos for particular effects on combined fixtures, it works well. And for simple effects (like linear dimmer chase or similar) I use “old” effect engine. But with fixtures with internal macro is difficult and slow, and you can’t use dylos, when I have only internal macro and I can not use it I don’t use.
To add to what Watson said, you can enable virtual intensity when patching, then set the Master part of the fixture to Default 100% intensity, and the parts to Default 0% intensity, and then you can just grab your parts group to control both. The only downside is sometimes the Master intensity has a smoother dimming curve.
