Show Error Pop Up when loading file

Software Version: 4.32.1302
NX Console Type or PC OS Version: NX2

I’m having an issue loading a demo file from X-lasers. Pretty much the fixture library is wrong for the Skywriter HPX M-5 so I contacted X-lasers and they sent me a show-file that works but as soon as I edit it or save it it wont open back up. I wished there was a way to extract the fixture types inside that show so i could load them to any show rather than trying to get this demo file working. Not looking good.

Hitting export in the Fixture Library Editor didn’t work? Or they could hit export and export their correct fixture profile and send you it and then you could hit import…

Hi @Ben0666Jamin

As @TheatricallyJerry mentions, it is possible to export fixture files from a show file. To do this, load the show file into ONYX, and then go to ONYX > Menu > Overview > Show Info > Fixture Library Editor > Export > User Library > select your fixture > Use Fixture Type. You can then save the custom fixture file to a file, which can then be imported into a different ONYX system.

If you cannot load the show file, please email it to support@obsidiancontrol.com, and we can then investigate why it is failing to load.

If you have encountered an issue with the Skywriter HPX M-5 fixture, it would be really helpful if you could submit a description of the issue in the following form…
ONYX 4.6+ Fixture Requests

Once submitted, our fixture library team will then be able to investigate.

Edward, with the latest PC release of onyx, we are having MIDI problems. The midi generator and Reaper show correct timecode, however Onyx shows the time code and it stutters pauses resumes stutters pauses resumes. It doesn’t seem to be working correctly.

Hi @TheatricallyJerry

Sorry to hear this.

I have run some tests in ONYX 4.32.1310, and ONYX is able to reliably and stably receive an incoming MIDI timecode clock at 24, 25, and 30 FPS. I have tested using a driverless MIDI interface.

Are you able to daisy-chain the same MTC signal to another device? If so, does this also display the stutter?

Edward

I sent a video in Facebook messenger. The MIDI timecode is running at 24FPS. Only started doing it when I upgraded to the latest software on a Windows 11 PC. The PC is also running windows 11 latest release.

Hi @TheatricallyJerry

Please could you confirm the step-by-step MIDI signal flow, from source to ONYX? So far, I have still been unable to replicate this.

Edward

hello, matthias hinrichs told us from some roumors about plans for a native network midi support in windows, some time ago. and that should make it possible to use networkmidi on consols without midi hardware. so can anyone here say anything about the progress in this? thx.

This functionality is logged on our system (idea reference ONYX-1183). I have made a note of your request for this.

There are no plans to include this in the next couple of updates.

Edward

So I’m using a MTC generator plugged in via USB with a 24FPS signal. I’m also using LoopMidi for timecode and waveform into onyx on PC for DYLOS. Then I’m using Reaper to generate the main source timecode. I’ve used this exact setup for two years with no problems. When I hit refresh on the timecode clock in Onyx it’ll start going, then stutter and stop. If I hit refresh in Onyx it’ll start again and then do the same. The MTC generator is detected in Onyx as well as LoopMidi. The only thing I’ve done different to my setup is update onyx to the latest release and updated windows 11 to the latest release. I’ll update you when I play around with it later on this week.

@TheatricallyJerry - Hey Jerry, I am sorry you are having issues. My only suggestion is to just double check your ONYX version. In the last couple post you say latest release. I checked the website and 4.32.1310 was released December 31. Maybe confirming and including the exact version of ONYX and Windows build would help the support team narrow things down.

Hope you get it figured out soon,

Watson
