Time Code timeline feature

Wondering if it is possible to add a timeline feature for when programming Timecode cue-list. So that it can record my overrides when I use them as a hit or effect and I can adjust after the fact. It would help speed up the time-code process and make the software more robust for the shows that use timecode.

Yes,i have to agree. This is something i really miss in Onyx.

would be great to have this option, +1!

r.h.

Would be great to see if this could be implemented one day.

I agree. I really love the timeline function in qlab and it would be awesome to have it in onyx also

I don’t know if it is best to revive this 3yr-old thread or to make a new request, but a timecode-controlled timeline is the single feature we need to be able to use Onyx in our shows. We are tightly synchronizing music, video, and DMX fixtures and we had hoped that Dylos would be a huge part of what we are doing. Unfortunately, a cue-to-cue playlist “state machine” approach does not offer the level of detail that we need in our DMX programming - we have different fixtures doing different things with different timings – one set of lights might be dimming up and down and hue cycling for 30seconds, while another set is strobing with precise timings, and a third set of fixtures are dynamically pixel mapped while slowly panning for 10secs, etc. These cues overlap and sometimes work together and sometimes do not.

Short of making a unique timecode cue list for each fixture and triggering them all at once (insane nightmare to program and update), there is not a good way to do this in Onyx.

If we had a timeline that allowed us to set each fixture / group’s state over time we would use the hell out of it (with simple keyframes and curves to control how they fade in and out or transition between states). Right now this is keeping Onyx out of our workflow entirely, even though I think it could be at the center of it all.

Reviving this thread once again, even though I’m certain everyone is aware that this is a desired feature.

I’m not a professional, more of a hobbyist/tinkerer who is coming from QLC+. As I’m learning Onyx on PC, I’m really feeling the lack of a timeline and precise control. I’m able to get close-ish to what I would like my fixtures to do, but it always feels like an approximation. It’s also quite difficult to organize cues. A multi-track timeline with keyframes and curves would take this software to an entirely different level.

I feel like Onyx expects you to lean heavily on the effects engine, which would be great IF you could use beat providers for effects. Presently, I have to say, this software feels inferior to a free, open-source offering, which is quite surprising to me. It’s is superior in many ways. I purchased an NX-K, and it really speeds things up. The user interface is way above QLC+, it just looks and feels nice. DyLOS, though I’m just starting to experiment with it, seems pretty amazing, but all of this said, more precise control and better organization than what a timecode cuelist can provide is required.

I will probably be going back to QLC+, regrettably, just because I can’t get Onyx to the level of precision that I can achieve with QLC+.

Absolutely need a time line show. Even my CODE Console has this feature. It makes creating a show on the fly a breeze using faders. They have ALOT of stuff to fix and they do note it. We pay for the technical support and programming mostly so I hope they hold up to that aspect.
